Juniors Club

CHAMPION LAKES BOATING CLUB JUNIORS

For those who are looking for a social kayaking group for children aged 8-12 years and 13-17, then the Sunday group will be just right for you, encompassing all disciplines of kayaking – flatwater sprint and marathon, canoe polo and slalom in a fun and non competitive environment, although we do offer encouragement to compete in sprint and marathon events. Sessions are normally run Sundays 3:30-5:00pm unless major regattas or visits to other clubs/venues are scheduled. There is also a Tuesday and Friday afternoon session 4:30-5:30pm and other sessions in or around State Sprint Championships in March.

CLBC provides qualified coaches for the program at nominal sessional fees. They also provide a limited number of club boats and paddles for juniors but juniors will be encouraged to purchase their own paddle soon after learning and then possibly purchase their own boat to maximize personal development after training for  3-6 months. The program will be influenced by seasons and Paddle WA (our State Sporting Association) or other paddling events which CLBC juniors will be encouraged, not pushed, to participate. These events will determine the paddling discipline and training the participants will be involved in preparation for individual or team competition. A Calendar of events is provided by Paddle WA on their website for parents and juniors to help plan their season.

SUN SMART

Champion Lakes Boating Club encourages all participants to be Suns Smart…cover up, add sunscreen and wear a hat. CLBC encourages all paddlers wear long sleeve rashies for sun protection. Our club also sells rashies with the club logo.

KIDSPORT

Champion Lakes Boating Club is a registered Kidsport Club. Parents can apply with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for a voucher to assist with fee payment.
