A TID paddlers view on the 4th Sprint Regatta at Champion Lakes
At the regatta on 9 January (my first as an official member of CLBC, along with 4 other TID paddlers) we experienced some of the worst conditions I have ever paddled in. There was a plus side to the howling tail winds and that was they did most of the work whilst we were racing. I did pretty well taking out first place in the K1 200m and 100m but was closely .followed by Bryce who got second in all his races. In the K2, Bryce and myself came second in both the 200m and 100m behind Sam and Mandy (who we let win so they wouldn’t get embarrassed) The rest of the TID paddlers all did well in both the K1 and K2 races even though there were a couple who went for a swim due to the ridiculous waves, myself being one of them. All in all it was a great day and we all had fun.
