Masquerade at 10 km Marathon Championships

Five CLBC members recovered from overeating and the usual celebrations of Christmas to enjoy a fun day at Champion Lakes on Sunday 27 December at the 10 Km Marathon Championships.(Fun but still a very competitive day of racing for some!) The parade and judging of masks was definitely a highlight and almost ended in a swim as people jostled and played before the judges. Darryl Long took the competition to unexpected heights with his skimpy, metallic lycra jump suit complimented by snow goggles. He made an awesome site but didn’t win!!!!!

For those kayakers who do early morning training at Champion Lakes you may find it difficult to believe that the water was spectacularly flat with only a light breeze! Taitiarna and Samantha came second in the K2 class. Ron was second in his Yellow Peril. Robyn was third in the Short course and Graham also placed -sorry Graham I was too busy cooking to hear the results!!!

Thanks to Chris, Tenneike and Taitiarna for providing the sausage sizzle for the hungry competitiors.
